Severe Weather

Lull in the Pattern, Quiet Severe Weather Stretch

After an active run of severe storms across the Plains and Midwest to start the month of April we'll see a period of quieter weather this week. Colder temperatures, and even some snow expected across the Northern and Central Plains into the Great Lakes over the next few days.

There's more activity on the horizon, it seems. Most medium-range guidance is beginning to hone in on another run of storm systems and potential high-impact weather across the Plains and Midwest late next weekend into next week.

Early signals are starting to show up in longer range weather forecasts that there could be several prolonged stretches of active, high-impact weather across the Central U.S. in mid to late April.

Notice how these probabilistic forecasts begin to come to life over the weekend into early next week:

We'll be watching this closely over the next few days, hopefully beginning to talk specifics with respect to timing and impacts later this week.
