The now record strong El Niño in the Pacific has fueled intense sub-tropical jet stream activity through the end of October with widespread rainfall observed from Southern California through Texas in recent weeks. That continues this morning across Texas along with additional low-pressure systems forecast to track through the Southwest this weekend. The more potent of those will yield widespread showers and mountain snow across the Intermountain West this weekend before tracking into the Central US early next week. We are monitoring elevated chances for a Polar Vortex disruption in early November which could influence colder air chances for the CONUS later in the month.
